Happy end of wild card weekend everyone, hopefully everyone didn't celebrate/drown their sorrows too heavily. It's time for more recapping of the 1st year in operation. This one brings around quite a bit I'd say, not bad for when it's suppose to be "dead" time in the industry. May To say nothing of importance happened in May (Alec) is an untrue statement. I just simply don’t have anything in my notes or documented on the interwebs. June We said good luck to our friend David on June 8th as he ventured out to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker. Training with the purpose of getting his surgically repaired knee stronger, he found that training also had him feeling better when he sat for those extended periods of throwing around chips and cards. June 24th we took Strength Camp outside for some good old Vitamin D. I've always been a fan of getting a workout in outdoors. Obviously using a bar takes some work when the time calls for it, but it's always fun in the sun just the same. July On Independence day we introduced a special rate for first responders, it’s here for life and has since been extended to military personnel and teachers too. I feel these are a group that should be appreciated in any way we can, this is one way I can do it for all. The studio got a nice face lift on July 11th. Not to say there was tons wrong with it before, but you know it suited our needs just a bit better with the new set up. COREssentials was dropped on July 29th, of course many of you know it hit a bit of a technical snag, literally. I still see it as a significant date because there WAS plenty of interest, you know the computer just wasn't interested in telling us. Hope you're continuing to enjoy the look back, come back tomorrow for August and September.

Happy Friday all! Back here to continue the recap of year one of the adventure that has been First XV Performance. Today it's a special month for me, March, and a look at the return to of a missing piece of fun in April. March March 4th/5th has almost nothing to do with First XV, but at the same time, for obvious reason it did. On this day some crazy woman decided it would be a good idea to spend forever with me. I have both the 4th and the 5th listed because it was well after midnight when I popped a knee and asked her, so depending on how you view it, it’s one of those days. March 8th the badge is born. After working through a website with a freelancer, the logo you all now know as the badge was created. I feel it’s a great logo to show off, inspired by things that have shaped me personally, unique, but not something that overwhelms you either. April April fool’s day was no joke as Strength Camp made its return to my docket. Despite this group being on Friday at 6 AM, they always come to work and it’s something I look forward to each and every week. Also for those looking for things I've found for this week, click right here.
Check back next time for May to July! Well it's a wonderful snowy Friday here in Boston. The wave of new year's resultion hasn't knocked me out too far at the least so step in the right direction. I'm looking forward to playoff football this weekend, but first let's have a look at some stuff you should put your eyes on.
How to Become a Functional Movement Guru in 40 Easy Steps- I've written before, way back long ago, about keeping your BS meter on high alert. This piece by Bret Contreras really hits that nail right on the button, as it were. People try to come up with crazy systems and discount EVERYONE elses, plain simple, don't buy it. Understanding Influencer Marketing & the Value it Can Bring to Your Gym- Some of you may wonder why I keep going back to the well of Pete Dupuis...just tell him to stop putting out some good (short for those with limited attention spans) content. As a bonus check out his piece here on ptdc.com. Unlock the Secret to A Perfect Deadlift- IF by chance you haven't heard of Todd Bumgartner or Strength Faction, you know what I'm going to say, just go. At first glance this article is JUST going to be all about picking things up and putting them back down. Surprise! It goes deeper than that, enjoy. |
